What kind of learner are you?

After many years of teaching, I´ve learned each student has specific needs. A very important and useful tool to understand their personal needs is to know the kind of learning style each one has. For example, my son has a when my son is doing his homework, he does it way much better if he has something to snack on. Of course, I always try to have something healthy like sliced cucumbers, jicama or carrots addresed with lime, salt and a bit of chili powder (a very popular and healthy snack in Mexico). Anyway, let´s start for the first question: what are learning styes? learning styles are simply different approaches or ways of learning. There are three types of learning style:
- Visual learners
- Auditory learners
- Kinesthetic learners
Visual learnears learn through seeing. They need to see the teacher´s body language and facial expression to fully understand the content of a lesson. Auditory learners learn through listening. They learn best through verbal lectures, discussions, talking things through and listening to what others have to say. Kinesthetic (or tactile) learners learn through moving, doing and touching. They learn best through a hands-on approach, actively exploring the physical world around them. There are many great websites where you can do a free test to know what kind of learner you are. Tomorrow I will write about what is and what are the types of multiple intelligence.
